Granville is a small college town with a big sense of community, and one of the best ways to spend an afternoon or evening here is to learn something new with your neighbors. At Granville General Store, our back room has become a workshop and event space for exactly that.
Our workshop space
Behind the shop floor at 134 N. Prospect St., we have a room set aside for classes, workshops and maker pop-ups. It is a relaxed, welcoming space in the middle of the village, a short walk from the shops, restaurants and the Denison University campus.
The idea is simple: a store full of thoughtfully made things should also be a place where you can learn how things are made, ask questions and meet the people behind them.
What kinds of workshops do we host?
Our calendar changes through the year, but workshops usually fall into a few themes that match what we carry:
- Apothecary and body care. For example, our Apothecary 101 workshop was a chance to learn, slow down and ask questions about the story behind the shelf, including products like hair serums and tallow balms.
- Home and low-waste living. Practical, hands-on ideas for using less and choosing better.
- Maker pop-ups. Meet local makers, see their work up close and shop directly from them.
- Seasonal gatherings. Tastings and in-store days that celebrate the season and the people who make our provisions.
How to find upcoming classes
The best place to see what is coming up is our events page. When tickets are available, you can reserve your seat online through our workshops collection. Seats are limited in a small room, so it is worth booking early for anything that catches your eye.

The workshop space is also available for your own gathering. It is a good fit for:
- Makers and instructors who want to teach a class or run a pop-up
